Dark Radiance is a Second Life™ Dark Victorian era roleplay area loosely
based on the World of Darkness games by White Wolf Publishing.
The date is approximately 1890 in a small corner of a fictitious London named Cruor Cross,
but it is not quite the same Victorian England known from history. This one is darker,
forlorn and supernatural creatures lurk behind the scenes. Every day one reads of yet
another industrial accident that killed many workers or of another disappearance of
family or child.

People, mortals, have always been oblivious to the
true world around them, the world filled with the supernatural. The creatures, the conflicts,
even the wars of the supernatural surround the mortals every day. Struggles between
supernaturals that would threaten their very existence took place daily, but the humans could
not see it.
Cruor Cross is a booming area of London, being quickly build up by trade and businesses. This has brought money and influence to the area but has also brought many poor from the countryside, immigrants from overseas, gin joints, prostitution, and theft. All these things are good for the supernaturals, more prey, more ways to gain influence, more people to hide among. Many of the bolder supernaturals have even bought businesses and residences in the area, becoming respected members of the community.
In early 1857 a vicious storm enveloped Cruor Cross. Such a storm had never been seen here before, the lightning struck all about causing massive damage. The rain drenched the area for days keeping in all but the hardiest residents. As midnight these days were for the sky was so dark. Eventually, the rain and lightning faded but the sky remained dark and clouded. Days passed, then weeks and the sky remained darkened as if night never left. The rest of London had experienced this vicious storm too, but only Cruor Cross remained in a permanent pall To this day Cruor Cross is shrouded in the dark pall that has never left.
