Witch Dice Roles

Dice Rolls for Magic
For every potion, ritual or charm, you'll have to roll the dice to see if it actually works on your intended target.
  • 18 - the highest score you can get is 18, an 18 would be an absolute success, the potion would hit right where the player aims, the bottle would shatter and your target would be soaked with the potion.
  • 13 to 17 - is a success and worked better than expected.
  • 7 to 12 - success, spell / potions works as expected.
  • 4 to 6  - Anything less then 7 is considered a fail.
  • 3 - is the lowest possible role and and that's a problem.  The potion hit the wall but didn't break.  Maybe it bounced back and broke against your face.
Note that if your spell failed for some reason, your character should make the appropriate Paradox roles to see if the Abyss has noticed, See  Paradox  for more information.
Example Spells

Example 1:
Rivianna goes throws a potion at Ethan with the intent of making him break out in welts.

Miss Rivianna McGwen: :rolls 3D6.  values = 3, 6, 4.   13 total
This is a win but not a huge one.

Rivianna throws the potion at Ethan, she hits but rather then vial breaking, a little just spills on him, then it falls to the ground to shatter at his feet, getting the shiny liquid onto his shoes and they'll probably be stained for life. He should feel a little pain and itching soon in the area affected.

Example 2:
Rivianna goes throws a potion at Ethan with the intent of making him break out in welts.

Miss Rivianna McGwen: :rolls 3D6.  values = 1, 4, 2.  7 total
This would be a fail but not an absolute fail.

Rivianna throws the potion at Ethan but it misses and shatters against the wall, causing glass and liquids to spill and be scattered everywhere, making the battle a little more hazardous for both parties.  But since Rivianna failed, she need to also perform a Paradox roll.

Miss Rivianna McGwen: :rolls 3D6.  values = 1, 1, 2.  4 total
Rivianna failed and the Abyss has notices her use of Magic.  So again she must roll to find out how the Abyss has reacted.

Miss Rivianna McGwen: :rolls 3D6.  values = 4, 2, 4.  10 total
The spell backlashes onto Riviaanna.  Her head searing in pain, she falls to the floor.
