Weapons and Combat
Combat at Dark Radiance is roleplayed!
Dark Radiance is not a combat region.
There is no need for weapons that inflict damage on another player.
In the Victorian period, weapons were not worn in public, there were laws against it. Police only in specific circumstances, like a known dangerous arrest, would carry a weapon. The rest of the time police did not carry any weapon except maybe a billy club if going into known violent areas.
A very few persons might carry a sword concealed in a cane or possible a gun in a coat pocket. Again, only a very paranoid or very criminally minded person might do such a thing. As a general rule no one should be carrying a weapon, you will need a very good roleplay reason for it. There were a couple exceptions.
Hunting - If you character is going "hunting" in the forest, then having a hunting weapon is of course realistic.
Duel - Most people were very reserved and would never be in any kind of fight. Only in extreme circumstances was a person forced into a fight. Insults and witty repartee solved most arguments before any fight could occur. Then there was the duel. If a person was severely insulted and or their standing questioned, a duel might be set up for a future date. The duel would be held using fists, swords, or pistols. Usually a simple fist fight settled the matter.
